Description
THIS IS A BRAND NEW BRAKE FAILURE PDWA SWITCH THAT FITS 1976-1980 MGB BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS AND ALL 1975-1981 TRIUMPH TR7 BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS.THIS SWITCH IS MADE TO TURN ON THE BRAKE FAILURE LIGHT ON YOUR DASH , IF YOU HAVE A HYDROLIC FAILURE IN YOUR BRAKE SYSTEM. IT IS MOUNTED IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR MASTER CYLINDER.
BIG NOTE
: IF BRAKE FLUID IS LEAKING OUT OF THIS SWITCH , A NEW SWITCH WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. YOU WILL HAVE TO PUT NEW SEALS IN THE LOWER PART OF YOUR MASTER CYLINDER . THEY COME IN A MASTER CYLINDER REBUILD KIT. NO BRAKE FLUID SHOULD BE AT THIS POINT WHERE THE SWITCH SCREWS INTO THE MASTER CYLINDER.
ALSO IF YOUR BRAKE FAILURE LIGHT IS ON
, AND YOU HAVE NO LEAKS IN YOUR SYSTEM , MOST OF THE TIME YOU ONLY NEED TO REMOVE THE SWITCH , PUMP THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES ( WHICH CENTERS THE SHUTTLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE MASTER CYLINDER ) AND REINSTALL THE SWITCH. THE BRAKE LIGHT SHOULD GO OUT. THE LIGHT COMES ON , AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T GO OFF , AFTER BLEEDING YOUR SYSTEM (AS WHEN YOU REPLACE CYLINDERS OR HOSES). THIS IS SIMPLY REMOVE THE SWITCH , PUMP THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES TO CENTER THE SHUTTLE , IN THE MASTER CYLINDER, AND THE LIGHT SHOULD GO OUT.
I GET CALLS ON THE SWITCHES ALL THE TIME AND MOST OF THE TIME IT IS NOT THE SWITCH BUT THE ISSUES ABOVE. MOST OF THE TIME YOU'LL NEE A NEW SWITCH IS WHEN THEY BREAK WHILE TRYING TO REMOVE OR REPLACE THEM. THE THE CASTING ISN'T BROKEN , MOST OF THE TIME YOU DON'T NEED A NEW SWITCH. PLEASE ASK BEFORE BUYING IF YOU ARE CONCERNED.
