You are viewing a set of two (2) water slide decals for a WW-1 aircraft propeller. Originally made by the Integral Propeller Co. Ltd. These were used on
British built airplanes
from 1913 through 1920s. They were used with
Anzani 125 H.P. Engines
as well as several different aircraft of that time frame.
These water slide decals are made with actual gold crushed leaf, and blue enamel. What you see in white would be the clear; showing the wood grain in the propeller. In one of the pictures, I held the camera where you can see the thin, clear membrane that holds the decal together. They measure 3 1/4" across.
Mounting Instructions:
Prepare a pan of warm water. When you put the decal in the water, it will want to curl up, but with wet hands, keep it under the water, and it will flatten out. Wait about a minuet or two, then while still in the pan, try sliding the decal to the edge of the paper. It will move easy when it is ready to slide off. Pull it out of the water, and with wet hands, place the decal paper in the area you want on the propeller. With wet hands, slide the decal to the propeller, and with the other hand, pull the paper out from under the decal slowly. Then, with wet hands, carefully squeegee out any excess water and air bubbles. You will have time to re-position the decal a little before it sets up. Let it dry for 24 hours before clear coating over it.
