Thewalt, Hamburg Crest ,W. Germany ,Beer Mug/Tankard w/handle VINTAGE 0.5L.
Hamburg , Germany collectible.
Thewalt was founded in 1893 by Albert Jac. It was operated by the Thewalt family until it closed in 2010.
After WWII, beer Stein design and manufacturing was reborn but not without change. New molds, new shapes, and new motifs were introduced, designed by Casare Cardinals, and produced on modern and more efficient equipment. These changes enhanced verses deterred the high quality embodied in old German traditions.
Makers marks: 0.5lL, WESTERN GERMANY, Thewalt makers mark ( T within triangle), ‘2’.
‘Western Germany’ would age this piece to between 1945-1990.
Measurements: 51/8” tall, 4” in diameter ( bottom) , 3.5” diameter at rim. .5 liter tankard.
Condition: Excellent. Only exception is a production flaw on back. ( see photos).
