Early VW's used a rubber cap to plug off the brake fluid reservoir. This was used on most of the early metal reservoirs and some of the early plastic ones  before they moved over to a screw-on cap. For the longest time  the only reproductions out there weren't very good and tended to  fall apart quickly. Now this new reproduction is made from the  right materials to last and it fits perfectly! We use this exact part in our own 57 Beetle and have no complaints! Do it once, do  it right!
